Sencha Japanese Green Tea
Description
Description
Sencha is a steamed and rolled Japanese green tea leaf traditionally consumed for its health benefits and as a refreshing drink that brings people together, whether at home or in social gatherings. Sencha is made from carefully grown and steamed tea leaves, reflecting the Japanese appreciation for natural, wholesome foods.
Sencha is made by harvesting young tea leaves in early spring and immediately steaming them to preserve their fresh, grassy flavor. Deep steaming process (fukamushi) is used for a richer, smoother taste. After steaming, the leaves are rolled to release their natural juices and dried to lock in flavor.
Mezame sencha is sourced from Kagoshima in the Kyushu island of Japan, known for the fertile soils packed with higher levels of nitrogen. Volcanic activity in Kyushu ensures a mineral-rich and fertile soil, ideal for growing the best matcha in the world.

Four simple steps to make matcha
Unlike popularly assumed, matcha is not the tea consumed in Japan on the daily. It's in fact Sencha. Why should you consider having it?
Clean, sustained energy (no crash)
Sencha combines caffeine with L-theanine, giving you steady focus without jitters, spikes, or that mid-day crash coffee gives.
High antioxidant support for daily health
Loaded with Catechins (especially EGCG), helping reduce inflammation, support metabolism, and improve long-term health markers.
Builds a calmer, more intentional routine
Unlike coffee, sencha slows you down - you brew it, sip it, and actually experience it. That shift alone improves how you consume caffeine daily.

FAQs to help you make an informed decision
Does sencha have caffeine? Will it make me jittery?
Yes, sencha contains caffeine - but much less than matcha or coffee. It’s also balanced with L-theanine.
This slows caffeine absorption, so you get steady energy and focus without the jitters or crash that coffee often causes.
What does sencha taste like? Is it bitter?
Good sencha is fresh, grassy, slightly bitter, and refreshing.
High bitterness usually also is due to wrong brewing (too hot water or over-steeping). Brew it right, and it’s smooth - not harsh.

How is sencha different from matcha?
With sencha, you steep the leaves and drink the infused tea. With matcha, you consume the whole powdered leaf.
So matcha is more intense (higher caffeine, stronger flavor), while sencha is lighter, more refreshing, and easier to drink daily.
When is the best time to drink sencha?
Morning or early afternoon. It gives you clean energy without overstimulation.
Avoid late evenings - it still has caffeine, even if it feels “lighter” than coffee.
Can I drink sencha every day?
Yes - that’s actually where it works best.
Daily consumption means consistent intake of Catechins, which is what drives real long-term benefits (not occasional use).
How do I brew sencha correctly?
Use cooler water (70–80°C), steep for ~60–90 seconds.
If your tea tastes bitter, you’re doing it wrong - too hot or too long. Sencha is sensitive, not forgiving.
