Iced Matcha Latte

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon / 2g mezame matcha powder
  • 25 mL hot water (about 175°F or 80°C)
  • 1 cup milk of your choice (dairy, almond, oat, soy, etc.); Oat milk goes best with matcha
  • Sweetener of choice (optional - honey, maple syrup, vanilla syrup, etc.)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Sift the matcha into a matcha bowl to ensure no lumps are formed when whisking
  2. Add the hot water and whisk the matcha vigorously in a zigzag motion (M or W shape) until it becomes frothy and smooth
  3. Add some ice cubes to a glass and pour the milk and sweetener over the ice
  4. Slowly pour the matcha mixture on top of ice to acheive a beautiful layered effect.
  5. Stir well before drinking, or enjoy the layered look as it gradually blends together
